Wind Direction Frequency Distributions

Wind speed and direction data are available for the Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS) stations at airport locations. Wind instrumentation is standardized to a height of 10 meters. The graph below shows the mean annual wind direction frequency distribution for non-calm observations, as well as the mean annual percentage of calm and non-calm wind observations. These analyses are based on hourly observations for the period 1971-2020.
